This book was so reminiscent of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The story speaks to you through Drew (hero) in the book and he is just as witty and funny (in a cocky way) as Ferris Bueller was, but this guy is in his early 20’s and has a finance job working for his father’s company. He is the MVP in his job, business suit wearing, clean cut guy, and from what you can tell a womanizer, but I will explain more about that a little later.
It starts off with Drew being sick – or at least that is what he would have you believe – in bed for a week and his sister is finally able to find him.
“What the hell happened to you”?
“Oh, that’s just wrong!” She inhales sharply, and, judging by the stink that joins the putrid pizza aroma, I’m thinking she just opened a three-day old ice cream container that wasn’t as empty as I’d thought.
Then the story continues with Drew explaining his story to you directly which makes you feel like he is sitting right next to you, shooting the breeze and giving you a full picture of his life. I can tell you, you feel like you are right there watching it unfold right in front of you, which is so cool that it got me smiling. As you read you laugh about Drew’s descriptions of people in his life; he is not the nicest person, but he has a funny way explaining his actions and you fall in love with him anyway.
Something I loved about this book was that heroine Katherine Brooks is strong, smart and takes no mess. Her reputation as a professional is flawless and she handles the business world like one of the big boys. It’s really hard to find this type of character in romance books so this was very refreshing; so for readers who like smart heroines, this one’s for you.
You also get a snippet of all their friends and their corky ways that had me cracking up.
This story simply made me smile from beginning to end and I ended up rooting for Drew to the end. This was a quick read for me and took me about two days to finish, but I wanted to finish the book because I wanted to know how it ended and wanted to read what funny things come out of Drew’s mouth.
You can read this book as a standalone, but this is a series; Holy Frigging Matrimony – book #1.5 a short story after Tangled. Twisted – book #2 – will be out March 25th 2014. This book is in Katherine’s point of view and the setting is after the Tangled story. Tamed – book #3 – is expected to come out May 27th 2014; this is Drew’s and Katherine’s best friends story.
