Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughter. Some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling and long walks on the beach…which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. When she’s not diving into the world of her characters, she can be found hiding out in her bedroom surrounded by her laptop, cell, Kindle and fighting over the TV remote. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies, fried pickles and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm…or under one in a bathtub if there are tornadoes. That way she can pretend they aren’t really happening.
Come be my friend!
Well, you have a friend in me Molly. Once again, I was able to get a chance to talk to Molly one on one. She was all smiles and laughs, and I saw her greet her fans with smiles and warm wishes. This talented author was so open and honest it was like talking to an old friend.
I also have to mention I got a huge surprise when I got to interview her with CHARLIE FREAKIN KELLER (AKA Chase), her insperation for her book Taking Chances. I can tell you it was a bit awkward when we talked about the writing her books and she talked about writing the racy parts. We both blushed and looked away, not really looking at Charlie directly. Anyway, you can see what I am talking about on his page: https://www.facebook.com/CharlieKellerFitness
you can LIKE his page and get all his updates on his latest Firefighter and Team BSN efforts because you know that is why you should check him out , or maybe if you just wanna umm look at him .
Ok, now let’s start the interview:
Thank you for taking the time out to answer some questions for Andrea’s Book Blog!
When did you first start writing, and when did you finish your first book?
I first started writing late summer of 2010, but I didn’t think I was writing a book, I was more just messing around when I was bored at work and didn’t have any new books to write. It wasn’t until the end of January 2012 when I actively began writing – what is now Taking Chances – and I finished it beginning-mid-May of 2012.
How did you choose to write in this genre?
It wasn’t a conscious decision, I was almost twenty-two when I first began writing so it was natural for me to write about what I know, my age group, and my experiences.
You have a great family and support system; can you tell us about the challenges you still had in writing your first novel?
Well at the time of writing, and completing, my first and second novels, only my husband knew that I was writing. I was working full time, and coming home and writing until long after he’d fallen asleep, and some nights I would work straight through until I had to get ready for work the next day. Obviously I wasn’t on any deadlines, I just couldn’t not write. I think the adjustment for both of us was a little difficult, seeing as the groceries tended to not get bought, the laundry and dishes were forgotten … he’s a trooper though and he does so much for us!
Taking Chances was the first time I read something with a love square going on – three boys after one girl. You wrote it perfectly and believably. How did you come up with the love square instead of a love triangle?
Ha, that wasn’t intentional. Carter jumped in at the last minute as a joke since I based him completely off a couple of my hubby’s good friends from while he was in the Marine Corps. In my mind, I knew that Harper never had feelings for him … so to me it was always still a love triangle. BUT, in a perfect fantasy world, you would love one man and he would be the only one to love you and you’d live happily ever after and have a bunch of babies. Now, I’m not sure about the rest of y’all, but when I was single or even dating, there was never just one guy that was showing interest, and there was usually one that was always trying to start trouble with the one I was interested in or dating. I know I’ve had some reviews where people say that “everyone just seems to love Harper”, but it just comes from personal experiences (not saying that everyone loved me! Haha). There was just usually more than one guy showing interest at a time.
What was your favorite chapter in Taking Chances and in Stealing Harper?
Definitely not chapter 13 in Taking Chances. Hmm, favorite chapter… For Taking Chances, I would have to say my favorite chapter is 17 or 19, Stealing Harper is 7 or 9. (I can’t choose, and no, I didn’t plan on them being 10 apart each time haha)
What is the next project you are working on that you would like your fans to know about?
I’m currently working on Deceiving Lies, the sequel to Forgiving Lies, which is coming out October 29th. I’m so excited for y’all to read both, they’re so different from my other books and my favorites so far!
