Book Review
.
This is a story about Lena and Trace’s self-discovery of their lives. The book starts off at a club and you learn quickly that Ember is not fond of crowds and stays away from any conflict. Ember has lived her life quietly, somewhat lonely, since her mother died. You feel for her a lot because she is a hard worker, does not look to people for any help, and is just a nice and good-hearted. Not wanting to give away the book, but Ember had really long back story that all starts with her mother’s death.

Then there’s Trace, whom you meet right away in the book. He has a reputation of being a womanizer, dangerous and heartless. This book will surprise you when you read further; in the book, Trace has major family issues that spill into his relationship with Ember. Trace deals with his stress by fighting, and in a way, self-punishing himself. I found myself feeling sorry for him. I mean Trace takes self-punishment to an all-time high. I really felt the author went a little over board on his violent streak, but at the same time I did not get a great understanding of what his underground fights were like. I would have liked to read more about that.

.Trace gave me whiplash with his mood swings. At some point in the book I was like, “Ember just leave him alone – he has way to many issues”. So you will have to read to find out what she does, whether or not she listens to me.

“This thing–it isn’t just rage in him he also has a deep-rooted belief that he’s a piece of Sh*&. He doesn’t think he’s good enough for you and at some point he’s going to push you away. I hope when he does, if you feel something for him, too, that you won’t let him” -Rafe

.There is a surprise revealing, a secret towards the end of the book that keeps you wanting to read and find out what happens.
.
Overall, I felt the book was “ok”; I mean it has tattoo-fighter-guy-alpha-male but kinda feels short for me in the overall story. There were some typo’s during some really important parts of the book which is why I think I felt the book was “ok”. Too many issue’s with Trace for me, but if you like fighter books it will do.
