“You promised forever and I plan on holding you to it.”
I was a HUGE fan of RULE, the first book in this series and I am still just a pleased. RULE was my “what to read after Beautiful Disaster” book before the re-edits and big time publishing deal. You can read my review and see I did make reference to the edit issue, but since then the book has been re-edited and published through William Morrow publishing. This sequel to the series did not disappoint. You can read this book as a standalone, but I do advise reading RULE, which was the best book thus far in the whole series. The series is about a group of tattoo-loving friends who watch out for each other like family. They come from all walks of life and this book focuses on the lead singer in a band and the best friend of the main character in Rule, Ayden. Ayden is the exact opposite of Jet in every way, but from the beginning there was all kinds of chemistry. Both of them have a bombshell of a secret that of course gets in the way of this budding romance.
Ayden toward the end, kinda lost me and I didn’t understand why she felt so strongly against Jet knowing her business. She had already said that she was different than what she was before, but based on what Jet does with the women in his life before he met her I felt they were on the same playing field. I know she didn’t believe that but it really didn’t make sense to me. Don’t get me wrong, the story is still hot and spicy; this was only one point of the story I just couldn’t believe. The rest is tragic and intense and you are rooting for this couple to win.
There was a point towards the end of the book I prayed that Jet didn’t do something that he’d regret, and thank goodness he didn’t or I would have truly given the story an ‘F’ for that. So, if you like tatted up alpha males who ride or die for their women, you will love this series. I give it 4.5 stars.
