“Hot steamy and a oh so unique erotic story that will stick with you for days, can’t wait for book two!”
Well, where do I begin with this book? What I have to say is… Well what I am trying to say is… What just happened? I mean, when I finished this book I just sat there looking at the screen of my iPad Mini and just stared. I was thinking again, ‘What the heck just happened?’ .
Ok, here’s the thing: I was recommended by a fellow reader to read this book. She said, “You’ll love it, and you won’t be able to put it down”. She gave me a heads up that it is in the Erotic category and to keep in mind that it’s way different from what I am used to reading. Well, she was dead right on that. So, I reached out to the author and requested to review the book and I can’t believe what I just read. I read one of the most original and steamiest books I had ever read since the huge phenomenon Fifty Shades of Grey.
At the end I was speechless – I mean speechless – and that never happens. I may be giddy with or touched by a plot but never speechless and dang-near catatonic for about 15 minutes after the book. The emotions I went throughout at the beginning were curiosity of where the story was taking me, then I had a “what the hell am I reading” moment, and in the end I went into that speechless phase. I finally snapped out of it and contacted the author and told her I need to talk to you NOW!!! I want to know more, I gotta know more, and I am wondering what goes on in the author’s head, I don’t even know and can’t tell if this is a woman or a man writing this because the book is written in both POVs and she or he nailed the writing on both perspectives.
So let me go back to my thoughts about this book. You start off with Night Owl ( Matt) and Little Bird (Hannah) writing back and forth as writing partners for a novel they are working on together. Night Owl wants his identity a secret, though he feels comfortable working with a partner, and then after a while that relationship changes to more and the plot starts to build. Hannah is in her early 20’s, still trying to find her way in her career and life and from the start I really liked her. But Matt, well, he is a different story; he is a really complicated guy that maybe you would say has a strange and paranoid behavior. He is really secretive and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to his writing. I imagined him with Obsessive Compulsive tracts mixed in with some Paranoia. He is so worried about people knowing who he is that it affects his relationships. But you understand why he is that way once you learn his background and situation, but I would be giving away the book if I told you more.
“What? This is what you want, Hannah. Don’t try to deny it. You want to be used. I’m enjoying you, little bird.”
Ok, that statement right there is one of the reasons I was hating on Matt throughout most of the book. I was bracing myself for some serious hate for Matt; I mean in most of the book, Matt has a live-in girlfriend and I was hating on him most of the time. I felt he needed a good ass-kicking from Hannah, but I struggled with totally hating on him. Then the plot twist happens and somehow you end up wanting to protect Matt. It’s the craziest thing because I was dead set on hating him and then I found myself trying to figure out how to help him out. Be prepared to read some kinky and steamy scenes and dirty-mouth talking.
This book is written as a trilogy but you can just read this book alone because there is no cliff hanger as long as you don’t read the epilogue. The epilogue is what had me speechless and catatonic for about 15 minutes. Usually I’m not as effected by an erotic book as much as I was with this one. Usually the story line is “ok” but never something that grabs at you. Well I am happy to report I felt this was one of the most original story lines and set of characters, well-written, and if you enjoy erotic books with corky characters you should try this book – you won’t regret it. Don’t wait months like me and asking yourself, ‘what was I thinking?’.
Because I did enjoy this book so much I plan to have an author interview session soon with the author. It won’t be on my radio show, but it will be some type of written interview. After reading this I have so many questions to ask and want know how this talented author wrote this book.
Please feel free to tell me your thoughts of this book. I am always open to hear readers’ suggestions of any good books you think I would enjoy too; besides, I would have never read this treasure if someone didn’t tell me about it. Solid 5 star read!!!

What a review! Well, guess I’ll add this to my to-read 🙂 This is a new author for me and not my typical read, but it sounds like this is the case for you as well and you loved it.

Yes, I was told by a fellow reader about this book and man of man I wished I had read it before. If you like Fifty Shades or Bared to you by Slyvia Day you will love this one. Very different story and well written. Let me know what you think 🙂

I love your review!! I feel the same way about this book. When I recommend it, I also say, it can be read as a standalone, as long as you don’t read the epilogue. I simply love this book and its original story. I love the way Matt and Hannah meet because I think its so relevant in today’s internet age. I can’t wait til this book blows up and I can say, yeah I read that like a year ago. 😉
