.BOOK REVIEW
Out of Breath is exactly how this book made me feel when I read it – just OUT OF BREATH. It starts out with bang – I screeched, sat up, started to read and the breathing issue of Out of Breath began. I am not going to spoil this for you, just in case you did not read this book or the other two books prior, so let’s just say you think you know what is going to happen, but you really don’t. Emma (Emily) is still her unpredictable self and still finding her way in life. This does not pick up where we left off in the second book. The scene is about two years in to college, and yes, she does go to Stanford, but there is something missing. All her new friends and old ones know it and they are desperately trying to help her. You will read about your favorite characters like her best friend Sara, Jared and some new found friends, and there are also some people you may not like so much like Jonathen, Catherine and that sneaky Analise. Yeah I said it, she was “oh so nice and just so sweet”, but she had an agenda the first time she was introduced into this book series. I know Evan felt she was nice and oh, poor Analise – she does not know anyone, but she stepped to Emma and finally stated her opinion on things in the second book and I was hopeful that she wasn’t written out or something on the third book. You will have to read about it to see for your self and tell me your opinion.

Something tragic happens and Emma is tested on how she deals with this emotional roller coaster that her life dealt her. She keeps coming across situation and things that remind her of a happier time in her life:
.
“I can’t sleep in a tent, Sara” Said Emma
.
So what does she do? She looks for ways to curb this feeling and this is what keeps her from hyperventilating at the thought of how her decisions take her on the journey less traveled. Throughout the book, Emma has flash backs that haunt her still today.
.
“What has you up all night? What is the source of all of your nightmares? What are you afraid of?” I could hear Jonathan’s voice”.
.
“We’re just as bad as they are with our lies and deceit. We destroy people’s lives”.
.
Another thing I liked about this book was the author decided to give a voice to Evan this time. You get see and feel what was going on in his head about things, which was so refreshing because Emma was all over the place; I think the author felt we needed … NO, we demanded to know what he was thinking. I always felt Evan was very predicable in his actions but never understood why he stuck around so much, and what in the world made him want to stay with some woman who has major issue’s like Emma? I mean, this guy lives in a huge house drives foreign cars and goes to country club fund raisers. Evan has friends that are equally rich and Emma was a girl just trying to survive.
Overall, I could not put this book down, I read it in one setting and tears came to my eyes in the end because I had to say goodbye to Emma and Evan.
.
OUT OF BREATH is literally what I felt after reading this book, can’t put it down, it touches your heart and has you from the beginning Andrea’s Book Blog
