Let me tell you about a cute story about a girl named Emma. Emma just graduated from college and just got her first job. The story is written in cleverly and the chapters document the days of employment. Within the story, you get a good since on exactly when and were things take place. Very cleverly written and funny witty banter is throughout this whole story.
From the sexy cover to the happy ending, this book is funny, current and with the times, steamy, and witty… I was curious throughout my reading.
“I love you, Emma.” I love you and I know you. I know you in my soul. With everything I am, I love you for everything you are”
First off, the way the author set the alignment of chapters was wonderful. Right from the start you get an understanding of where the book is going to take you, starts in the middle, but ends on day 389 of employment. Well, you kinda do… Don’t want to give too much away from the book, but you get a well documented experience in Emma’s POV, how things went down with her during her new job right out of college. There is also a really nice bonus chapter of the Mr. Canon’s POV at the end – you don’t want to miss.
I really liked Emma and her internal dialog while dealing with the business world. She was a strong woman, yet felt the need to change her appearance to fit a certain role to be treated with respect on the job. I mean, don’t women do that all the time? We take jobs and know we have to dress the best, have the best education, perform better than the boys, and yet sometimes that is just not enough. This story really dives into those social norms in a funny and clever way, and I like the way in which the author puts steamy and swoony scenes in the book. I give this book a solid 4 stars and feel that this book is well worth your hard earn money to buy and read.
