“A very dark, intense book with raw emotions that makes this story very real”
This book is the sequel to Breaking Nova, which picks up right where it left off in the first book. So if you haven’t read the first book, you may want read that review first. This book is a must-read after you have read the first book, and you won’t understand what’s going on if you don’t.
Nova is now back in school, doing a whole lot better with her grief and finally not totally blaming herself for her boyfriend’s suicide. But Nova is obsessed about Quinton and how he is doing, and how she can find him and help him. Where we left off in the first book, Quinton had let his demons take over and obsessed over the guilt he put on himself about his girlfriend and best friend’s death, and just about any bad thing that happened in his life. He continues to feel he doesn’t deserve anything good in his life and goes on path of destruction. But Nova does find him and hopes she can save him.
“I swear to God if I lose one more person I love, It’s going to kill me.”
You have to be in the mood for this book. As well written and real as this book’s subject is, it made me feel down and depressed. I mean reading the first book wasn’t flowers and roses, but I was hoping this one had some up lifting moments and it really didn’t until the very end, and even at the end the story isn’t done. If you’re in the mood for something deep and a serious drug use love story, this book is for you. I often thought that this book would be great for teenagers and new adult people and families that have been effected by drug abuse or mental health issues. I thought that this book would be very helpful in identifying real topics that effect real people.
So to sum up my thoughts about the story, I felt it was a well written new adult tragic story about coming of age characters that you must be in the mood to read about. Although the story is very real and relate-able, it is not a warm and fuzzy book that will get you in a good mood. I give this book a solid 4 stars.
