SWEET THING
😀 😀 😀 😀 4 stars
This very sweet and enduring book will have you singing love songs.
The book starts off with a mirrored past and present life of a girl named Mia. What I mean is that Mia runs into an older version of herself at the airport. The older version has children and a husband at home and you first hear the perceptive from the older one and then it flips to Mia the rest of the book. Mia is faced with taking care of the estate of her dead father, whom she adored. You feel for Mia; she is young, beautiful, and has her whole life ahead of her but she is so lost and confused on to which step to take in her life. Then enters Will, who is this laid back musician she meets by chance on a plane. Will almost missed Mia because of his fear of flying but when they do meet sparks fly and you can’t help but think after finishing the book that Will knew his future and was just waiting for Mia.
This story takes place in New York were the night life is always busy and life is lived in the here and now – well, at least most New Yorkers. Mia is stuck and can’t get out of her own head to move forward in the grieving of her father. You see Mia go through the 5 stages of grieving in varies orders. Mia pushes away Will; Will is so sweat and waits for Mia to be ready to the point where I was yelling at Will, telling him he should move on and let Mia get the help she needs. I almost stopped rooting for her.
Okay? I’m sorry baby, I just … I don’t want to leave, either, and I don’t want you to put up your defenses because you think I’m going to run off and forget about you.”
There are some high points in the book where everyone is happy and then there are low points – I mean, really low points – in the book. I was tearing up when someone very special leaves the book; if you’ve read the book, you know who I am talking about.
Overall, I felt the book was
Sweet, just like its title and made my heart skip a beat – you will feel like dancing in the end.
