Thank you, Willow, for taking the time to participate in my interview. While researching information about you, I could not find much – not even a picture – so this interview will hopefully will help us readers get to know you better. When I first met you, you were very quiet and shy-like, I LOVED your outfit and that was the first thing I complimented you on; I could not understand why you would not post a pic of yourself : ) I also found out outside of this interview that you live in Minnesota with your family! Oh, I was so over the moon – a home town girl is hanging out with the NY Times best seller’s author, signing with her first book published. I was even more intrigued on how sweat and oh so nice you were about opening up in the interview, which you had not done for anyone else. So this is an exclusive video of a Willow Aster interview – I am honored!

Ok, let’s start the interview!
True Love Story, your first book which was also self-published, takes off and becomes one of New York Times’ best-selling books. Was this your first time trying to publish?
Hi! Nice to meet you! (It hasn’t been a NY Times Bestseller that I know of, as much as I would love that! If it has, OMG! I’ll have to run around the house and dance all day if that’s the case!) This is my first time publishing a book and it’s been so exciting!
What did you do before being an author, with your family and friends?
I love doing just about anything with my family and friends. Time with loved ones, great food, a good movie…I love it all. Writing has always been part of my life, whether it has been stories or songs or blogging…
Do you come across any rejections while trying to publish your book? If so, what did you do to overcome them?
I tried the traditional route a long time ago, but could never even get my chapters read. Lots of rejected query letters. I decided to self-publish and have been amazed with how the whole process has been.
Did you know right away that you were going to write a New Adult fiction book? Or did you think of other genres?
I’ve written another that isn’t New Adult at all—I hope to publish it someday too. So yes, I have other genres in mind, but knew this one would most likely fall under New Adult.
Is this book anything like your real life? What is your connection to Minneapolis, you mention driving on the lake – only a Minnesotan would know about that – Ian took Sparrow out?
I’ve definitely been on a frozen lake, have kissed on a gondola, and toured a houseboat once…oh how I wish I could say I had time alone with Ian on a houseboat!
I knew It!
Is there a character in your book that is similar to you / based on you?
I probably have the most in common with Sparrow. For example, I don’t like the word ‘moist’ either 😉 I love Tessa, though. She’s my favorite.
If this story happened to you in real life, would you have done the same thing Sparrow did when she found out Ian betrayed her?
It’s hard to say. I HATE cheating, so I’d have a really hard time forgiving that, but I’ve seen a lot of people survive it and come out stronger, so I guess it would just depend on if I could trust that person again…
What are you working on next?
Wellllll, I have a few stories that I’m working on. It’s sort of driving me mad. Soon, very soon, I will give details about these characters that are tormenting me.
