Chloe hasn’t had the best life. With a mother who is gone more often than not, she has had to raise herself. After graduating high school, she leaves to start a new life away at West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan, determined to leave her demons in the past.
On her first day, she meets a stranger who takes her breath away at first sight. Until she met Drake, no one had ever sparked her interest. Now this tattooed and pierced bad boy is all she can think about, no matter how hard she fights it.
Falling for Drake was never part of her plans, but when it happens, things seem to do anything but fall into place.
Dealing with a tragic past, Drake has never cared about anyone else but himself and his band. But when Chloe takes the empty seat next to him in class, things start to change. Instantly drawn to her, he begins to wonder if one girl can take a cold hearted womanizer and change every part of him?
Long hidden feelings are revealed and friendships tested to the brink.

Chloe is a new college student and has best friends Amber and Logan. Of course Chloe is clueless at first that Logan has feelings for her, and goes on thinking they are just friends for as long as she can so she does not have deal with her feelings. In the beginning of the story, she meets Drake, who is the tattooed hottie and singer that has a womanizer reputation and forces Chloe into this love triangle between them. This is where the title of the book comes from – “Torn”. You ride this journey with Chloe in trying to make the right decision in her life; being a “New Adult”, she is struggling with it.
During her struggle to make the right decision, Chloe has some real issues of the day like dealing with her alcoholic/ drug addict mother and how her and her friends abuse alcohol when things do not go there way. Chloe herself does not fully understand how this affects her life decisions and how she chose her path in life. What surprises me at first Drake makes the decision for her and of course you think you know how the story is going to go next.
Chloe: “Then take me”
Drake: “What”
Chloe: “If you want me take me. If this is what it takes for us to get each other out of our systems, then we’ll do it and move on.”
At this point of the book, I was pissed at Chloe; I mean, come on!
I am thinking the author wanted me to feel that Chloe’s self-hating thoughts really molded her view of herself and of how she should live her life. The message she received about herself growing up was the theme of the book the whole way through, I was hoping that her family drama would be settled more, but while interviewing the author I found out that there is a sequel out that does go into her mother’s issues more.
Overall, I enjoyed the book; it was so very “New Adult” with real life New Adult issues. I liked how the author shed some light on some personal issues like alcohol abuse, which came up organically within the story line. I did find myself rolling my eyes at Chloe – she really worked my nerves with her wishy-washy behavior. I had to put the book down a couple of times at some points. If you have read the book, you know which two parts I had to take a pause in. The book was very well written and I was entertained. Alert – there is a cliff hanger at the end, but the good thing is there’s a sequel named Twisted that you read right after this.
What do you think of my review; did I miss anything?
Below is the book series in order.
